brimming from the inside

Apollo Bay, 2016

On my first day in Australia, our family drove to Apollo Bay to spend the weekend at the Great Ocean Road. The shot above is from the morning after, when I looked outside the window, thus, the ghost of my reflection.

As I looked outside, I could not believe that I was in another continent that is not Asia. I mean, who would have thought that a day would come that my family and I would spent a month in Australia — altogether. It was surreal.

It has been more than a year, and I haven't had the opportunity to tell stories of this trip since. A time in my life where I was in absolute peace. My mind was at rest. I was just me.

kids with cameras

One of my fondest memories with my nephews were taken this day. They live in another continent so days like these are rare. I was happily surprised when both of them took interest in playing with my cameras. They even did their own mini photowalk that morning. The memory alone makes me chuckle.

I guided them along as they bombard me with questions on how to use the camera (basically how to press the shutter button). My heart would flinch every time they'd take a shot and would call me just to let me see the result :) I know it was all play for them, but it was so nice and endearing how even for a moment the kids loved doing what I love doing now as an adult.

Robert & Francis

With Lolo :)

Shooting me shooting him :)

That smile! <3

Francis having a hard time handling the camera but was still so persistent as seen through his face haha!

One of my most memorable shots

Robert and I stopped on this spot, and I told him our shadows were nice subject to take a photo of. And so we did. And that moment felt a lot like love.

KING

We celebrated Dad's 60th birthday at King Bee, a Chinese Restaurant in Cavite, earlier this month.

A small gathering with family and relatives. Good food! A king for a king.

RED

A continuation of the family dinner I have posted earlier this month. Who secretly wants to be a food photographer? This girl.

PARK IN THE PARK

It was suppose to be a real walk in the park with Mum and Kimi on a Sunday late afternoon, but Dad joined in and told me to practice driving instead (yes, turning 26 and here I am still).

We dropped off Mum and Kimi at the sea wall and then I encircled the area on, and on, and on. As much as I want to hit the road with the windows rolled down and all while the music’s on, I don’t think I’m built for it. I can operate the machine, but there’s a discipline that comes along with driving which I haven’t acquired yet. You know what they say about having so much excuses? Haha! I just don’t enjoy it, ok? My license enjoys serving its purpose only for identification though :p

Well at least, my parking was straight.

But you won’t see it because I parked the one behind this car. Haha! You just have to trust me I did it right :p After that, Kimi and I walked along just as we were suppose to (in the first place).

We met these two puppies with no leash, just running beside the street!

One of them approached Kimi and attempted to make friends? I guess? But Kimi is always nervous/coward with other dogs or even with other people, she doesn’t mingle well when outside. This is baffling me because her teeth does mingle well with my shoes, my socks, rags around the house, the corners of the wall, even with the edge of the table! CC: Cesar Millan. (Weird thing though: Mum said they walked earlier around the neighborhood and Kimi was so defensive and ready to attack other dogs this time. That bitch.)

Anyway, back to the park (sea wall). It’s nice that they did some renovation to it. It’s not much, but at least there are benches now.

I hope they put more plants around (because some are already dead!) and wish they could maintain it well.

I went back the next day when it was not this dark, brought my black slim devil, and finished my first roll around here. I’m still thinking if I should get the first one developed so I could already see what needs to be improved, or just finish and wait for the next two. Hmm.
