boys of bolinao

I can't remember exactly what day, but it was our last morning in Bolinao and I woke up earlier than the rest of the group. I took a no-brainer walk by the beach with my swollen morning face and came across these two boys selling souvenirs.

This is Maynard.

And Carl.
Both of their individual demeanor struck me with such interest. Maynard is a little shy boy with a soft approach, while Carl is this poised, confident boy who seems to be older than his age.

We all sat in a kubo so I could properly choose what to pick from their offerings and had a little chat. A normal morning for them is to wake up early, sell souvenirs, and if lucky, take back their earnings home and use it as their baon (daily allowance) for school.

It's refreshing to see the kids' approach to life with no qualms.
