IS ENOUGH, ENOUGH?

I'm not the usual film hoarder, but I started to bite a couple of deals that offers film packs last month because I am preparing for an upcoming trip (no spoilers). I was also lucky to be a happy recipient of about ten rolls during our Secret Santa in the office, so I've got about 30 rolls on hand now and not enough space in the fridge to store them in! Also take note that an additional of eight black and white rolls are on their way to be delivered next week.

I'm not planning to bring them all, of course, but while I was doing my last minute research on the trip, I could not help but doubt if I would be able to bring enough film with me. I haven't been taking photos with film the last time I went out of the country, so I really can't estimate. I'd like to ask now, how many rolls do you bring when you are out for a trip? :)

  1. I always try to bring more than I expect to use, especially since film in my country is much cheaper than many other countries so I don't want to have to pay more in the event that I really did not bring enough! My own gauge is about 8 rolls for a three-day trip, 16 for a week-long trip. Unpack them out of their boxes, much easier to carry! :)

    1. 16 is not too far from what I was planning to bring! (which is 20, hee) Thank you so much for the tip, Katie! :) I remember bringing 5 rolls on a 3-day out of town trip and was holding back the entire time for fear of not having enough frames -- it was not a good feeling.

  2. I love the first photo!

A funny confession: I brought ten rolls when I went to Pangasinan, but I still feel guilty for not bringing more. Hehe. Perhaps, it is always best to bring more than feel lonely and frustrated for running out of film to use.

I am excited for your trip. Have fun! ♡

    1. Thank you, Mamie!! :)

Must say, your confession makes me want to sneak in 5 more rolls to my backpack haha!

  3. I don't know why but I only finished about 6 rolls on a four-day trip in HK. I bought more than that, but I kind of did not feel it was not enough since I was really planning on hoarding films in HK. If you happen to be going to a place where there are films abundantly being sold, I guess bringing 10 rolls can be enough?

P.S. Where do you have you BW films developed?

    1. Haha, I'm really liking the diverse answers I've been getting from this post, it makes me know more about the approach each photographer takes when it comes to shooting film! However, I've stuck with bringing 20 or so rolls because I'm too lazy to pack/unpack them again in my bag :D Will be flying later in the evening, btw.

Aia, I think I'm not the best person to answer your question because it's also my first time to shoot with BW film (which makes me more anxious, ugh) haha. But I've asked around before buying them, and I'm planning to have them developed at Wells (70/roll) and then have them scanned in Fujifilm Megamall (70/roll). Dividing the tasks, because it's cheaper daw that way.
