singapore botanic gardens

I've been to Singapore a couple of times before, but last May was my first time going to this 156-year old garden honored as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It was still summer. The garden is vast, so walking is a must for one to explore the entire 74 acres.

The heat was almost unbearable, but I enjoyed taking photos of the light coming through the rustling leaves and to the concrete pathway. Even after 3 years of shooting film, I still have to think about my exposure settings and estimate the light of my surroundings before I shoot (the light meters of my cameras are all busted).

Unfortunately, I overestimated the light coming through the trees and thought it was enough to shoot at 1/125-1/250, hence the grain. Fortunately, I will be coming back to Singapore early next year so I may have the chance to shoot with a decent exposure.

Yup, there's been a little change in my blog. Everything else is the same, though. Maybe I'll explain the transition later. For now, welcome to the new blog name :)

    1. Hahaha! Hi Thais! It was a very confusing time for me as well. Believe me, I don't want to confuse you either but I had to do the change for my own peace of mind. It was a risk, of course. I was scared of losing people whom I consider my online/photography/blog friends like you. But in the end, I rest it all in faith that eventually you guys will figure it out haha.

I wish to explain myself and the change hopefully before the year ends. Thank you so much for sticking up with me after all! :) :) I appreciate it so much <3

    1. Hi Aia! :D Glad that you still found me hahaha. I badly needed this change, but I don't want to go up to people and say "hey it's me, follow me again please?" hahaha so I just stayed mum for a while. My old Twitter is gone together with everything grewlegs.

I just really needed this change, and I really hoped you guys still would understand. I'll try to explain when the words are ready (celeb lang? kailangan mag explain? hahaha) Anyway, thank you Aia! :D

  3. A bit grainy but they are still very lovely photos. Without using a meter in your cameras, have you considered using an external meter? I've gotten very good results using 'Light Meter' for iPhone for those situations I find myself without a working meter.

Also, thanks for the wonderful Emulsive Santa gift! I'll admit, there is only one roll of film left (one of the rolls of Tri-X) so it's already been put to good use. I also really appreciate the prints (the first one was a wonderful photo of a kitty) and I absolutely love the Provia tin. It sits with my cameras on the shelf beside them.

    1. Hey Dustin! Thanks for dropping by. So glad the gift contents were useful! Really great to hear that :)

Yes, I have the Light Meter app in my phone too, but I tend to forget that I have it whenever I'm out and shooting. Most of the time I just wing it.

I was just on your blog the other day, browsing your December photos, which are so beautiful and lovely as well!
