I tried coming up to a stranger one time to take a photo of her - HER - and she gave me a snarky look and went away without speaking. Since then I try to be stealth while taking photos of strangers. Hahaha! One reason why I'm on a lookout for a telephoto lens for my AE-1P, a cheap one with wide aperture (still to no avail til now). Hahaha!
What I usually do is take first 1 or 2 photos near the person just so they'd know that they are in my line of sight, like next in line for photo, and then I just try to be brave and hope that I won't creep them out when I focus on them haha! I guess it just depends on your approach or 'diskarte' :D
Btw, this has been bugging me for quite a while and I've read a lot of people's opinion regarding this but I'm not sure what to believe anymore, so do airport xrays actually ruin films? How do you travel with films? I'm afraid airport staff would get suspicious if I ask them to manually scan my stuff. Thanks!
I've never had any problem yet with traveling with films :) I usually pack them in my hand-carry luggage and I proceed to the xray machines like a normal person without film would do hahaha! But I've read a post somewhere that films with ISO 800 and below are safe in xray. If you really doubt it and would want to be extra careful, don't be afraid to let them manually scan them! I think that's perfectly normal :)
:) i try to do it more openly possible..people take more lightly if they do not get the feeling that you are sneaking on them <3
ReplyDeleteTrue! :)
DeleteThe girl on the last photo was actually taking a photo of you as well ;) Love candid shots of strangers/street photography!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mars! :)
