Happy Film Photography Day! ♥
I'm grabbing the opportunity of this celebratory mood in film photography to announce that I'm giving away film stuff :) It has been two years since I officially started wonderfully documenting life with film, and I don't see myself putting a halt to it anytime soon despite how financially-challenging this hobby is at times. In spite of limited availability of film and processing labs, I'm glad that there is still an active underground community of film photographers and online shops here in the Philippines. In two years, I have been able to get my hands with five film cameras and a number of films that can suffice me for a year.
Two months ago, I have luckily acquired a Ricoh GR1S that I have been waiting for months! At first, I thought of selling three of my cameras so I could somehow get even with my "savings" (quotations, because who am I kidding here I don't have savings) because the Ricoh bored a deep hole in my pocket (I don't regret it though!). But then I thought, why not just give away one, instead of putting myself in such a tedious process of selling stuff online (answering inquiries and meeting up with the buyer) when I really don't expect any profit from it?
So... (such a long introduction, no?) in line with my birth month, I have decided that I'm giving away my very first film camera: a Holga 120N plastic film camera, and some 35mm color negative films! Since these are in different formats, there will be two winners (one for the camera, and one for the films). To join, simply comment your answer to the question: What is your favorite subject to photograph, AND why?
And to save myself from the challenge of subjectively picking my favorite answers, I will be using a randomizer to choose the winners :)

Giveaway runs until my birthday (April 27) haha :D I will announce the winners before April ends :) Cheers!
My favorite subject are landscapes because it is one of the reasons why I got inspired with photography. It is very diverse and wherever I go, surely there's a certain subject that gets my eye. With my surroundings, or landscapes as my subject, it made me feel more connected to where I am. :)
ReplyDeleteI like shooting landscapes because I know I can never go wrong with shooting horizons! :D Thank you for joining, Ria :)
DeleteMy favorite subjects to take photos of are some random, ordinary stuff. I get excited seeing the most common things turn into works of art when they are photographed using film. The whole feel of the photos look very different from those that were taken using digital cameras. So, the normal food photography or street photography one does using smartphones become more alive without having to add filters when using film.
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary to your blog and Happy birthday, April! Always looking forward to seeing really inspiring photos on this blog!
Thanks a lot, Mars! I can't believe I've maintained this blog too for this long hahaha! Thank you for joining! :)
DeleteOh you have come really long way in your film photography journey! And I am so excited for your giveaway 😀
ReplyDeleteI don't have any favourite subject to photograph but I like to capture all amusing things of new places that I visit. Because I rarely go back to same place again.
The usual problem I face with when I'm in a new place or in a really beautiful one is that I get paralyzed haha! It's like I don't know what to shoot first or how I can give justice to them :D
DeleteI really am thankful for discovering the joy of shooting with film :) Thank you for joining!
My favorite thing to photograph is people in different spaces. I love portraits and find photos with humans in them very interesting :)
ReplyDeletePortraits always move me, but it is also the one that I always struggle with when shooting. I think no person could ever be boring if you put them in front of the camera :D
DeleteThank you for joining, Bora! :)
I don't have specific subject in my photographs, but I'm drawn to shoot random photographers that I see on street who still uses film. It is really inspiring to see fellow photograper who still shoots film. Enjoy your new camera. Looking forward load those Fujicolor 400. :)
ReplyDeleteI feel there's like a secret understanding when you come across someone who shoots film as well :D Thanks for joining, Jomel :)
DeleteHappy birthmonth! :) I don't usually have specific subjects to shoot. It only depends on the cameras I'm using and the mood of the place. lol But I do love shooting the sunrays during the sunset and sunrise.

tricky question. my favorite subject is people, but it always depends on my mood and the lighting... so, I guess I like to shoot the beauty, in a way. =]
ReplyDeleteAnd that translates well in your photos, Thais! Thank you for joining :)
DeleteOMG!!! Glad I blog hopped! So long since I visited the film blogs I'm following. Wooot! To answer the question and hopefully win some filmssssss, I love photographing people because I'm challenged to show not just the face value of the model, but the emotions I want to convey. :D
ReplyDeleteAlso, advance happy birthday! April celebrants rock! *ehem ehem* HAHAHAA!
I still struggle with shooting people. But you do it well, Aia :) Thank you for joining!
DeleteHaha, happy birthmonth to you too! :)
Out of all the subjects I'm used to in photography, my favorite subject would be nature/urban landscape. I just love how our surroundings and places change all the time. It shows the beauty nature has to offer and what we humans built for ourselves.
ReplyDeleteI love finding old photos of places and seeing how much has changed :) Thanks for joining, Jason!
DeleteMy favorite subject to photograph is nature. Nature plus natural light are just hard to resist.
ReplyDeleteTrue! Nature + natural light is the perfect combo! Thanks for joining, Cyria :)
DeleteI am a sucker for sunsets. It always serves as a reminder to me how God has made everything so beautiful. :)
ReplyDeleteHello, Carmela!! Can't believe you are here hahaha, I used to follow you in Tumblr when mine was still active. Glad that you are shooting film now too :)

DeleteP.S. Hope our schedules will meet someday :D :D
Happy Birthday! :) Thank you btw for leaving a feedback about my portfolio site on my tumblr! To answer your question and take part in your giveaway, I am still pretty much all over the place so I don't really have a specific subject that I often take photos of. I am drawn to candids/street photography and travel/landscape photography though. In general, I just try to capture a slice of my days or something I find interesting whenever I go for a shoot.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joy! Finally I have the chance now to say how I've been a 'fan' of your photos ever since I discovered your Tubmlr/site -- just never had the courage to pop it into a comment haha! I'm so flattered that you are even here hahaha! Thank you for joining :)
DeleteHaha wow now it's me who's flattered! I'm just happy someone thinks my photos are worth looking at! Hope you had a nice birthday! :)
DeleteHuman faces/portrait, because we capture endless emotions. *
ReplyDeleteI wish I have enough courage to come up to people to shoot their portraits! Thank you for joining :)
